Mario’s is not pushing the envelope with their coffee, nor are they selling a mannequin and telling you it’s a model. This is the kind of place you could drop into with a long lost friend and trust that your conversation will not turn towards the coffee for either praise or criticism.
The staff are young and seemed to take all levels of business in their stride. Never hurried or overwhelmed they always appeared to serve their coffees in a good time-frame.
Mario’s has been a place that we’ve visited over the years. It appears to sell itself as a student café and delivers coffees that are adequate, albeit in a nonchalant and blasé manner. The overall score is consistent with our experience.
Score Summary. NOTE: No Ristretto ordered on the 2nd and 3rd visit. A long Macchiato was ordered on the 1st visit.
