Coffee Brand: 5 Senses
One of our beliefs when it comes to cafes or venues where coffee is a strong part of its business is that it is important to get the coffee right first. While we don’t dismiss the importance of everything else that goes into a creating a successful business, if the coffee is done poorly then you are on a losing wicket straight away. People won’t come back regardless of other things that may be done well.
Collective Espresso is on a winning ticket. The coffee here has been great and is getting better. The people behind the scenes have had a strong focus on crafting great coffee while building the rest of the business along the way. There is a visible and loyal local following that will help Collective Espresso on its journey and many customers seem to be on first name basis with the staff. Its strength is in its simplicity. Collective Espresso offers two types of roasts – a blend and a single origin (which changes regularly). There is no extensive list of different roasts or methods, and who knows this may change down the track; at the moment it appears unnecessary.
We will travel for good coffee and this place is worth seeking out. There is an easy, relaxed attitude here with genuine warmth making it a nice place to hang out. Being just off the main street is a plus as there is an element of exclusivity; only those with an appreciation for quality coffee above the norm currently populate the outdoor tables or the huge communal bench inside. The kitchen has only just gotten up and going with a simple menu that is growing and improving all the time. Go here and enjoy the coffee, especially with friends.
